You will certainly know coconut Bounty bars, one of the most popular bars to take on the road. Would it ever occur to you that you can make your own at home, without unnecessary sugar and additives? In 15 minutes you can turn one Powerlogy chocolate bar and some delicious coconut cream into 8 – 10 mini bars of superb quality, with no milk, casein or gluten. Thanks to the maple sugar in the chocolate, which we managed to source in organic quality directly from a certified producer in the province of Ontario in Canada, you don’t even need any extra sweetener.
Coconut cream is not the same as coconut oil. Even though plenty of people mix the two up.
At first glance many people think Power Cream is coconut oil. Although our range also includes an upgraded coconut oil that is easier to digest, this is a different product. We developed Power Cream to our own recipe, using a delicious combination of coconut flesh, cashews and real bourbon vanilla. For good measure and a slow release of energy we also added chia seeds. The result is a unique coconut cream with all-round uses, just as you are used to with the Power nougat and the almond cream. The cream is also appreciated by people who prefer clean foods without sugar and preservatives. On top of that, the cream contains no traces of peanuts, no palm oil and no chocolate. Its natural sweetness is the result of gentle processing and the combination of coconut flesh, quality cashew nuts and the strength of real vanilla.
Method:
- Warm the coconut cream by putting it straight into hot water and stirring it until creamy.
- Scoop out a full tablespoon and add the desiccated coconut, Powerlogy Natural Collagen 300 g, or extra honey, and shape dense bars.
- If needed, let them set in the fridge.
- Melt the bar of Powerlogy chocolate on the hob or in a bain-marie, and if needed help it along with 1 tbsp of coconut oil.
- Coat the bars in the chocolate.
- Put the finished bars in the fridge or the pantry so the chocolate sets properly.
- The bars keep for 2 weeks in the fridge. Although they probably won’t last that long
We even recommend homemade Bounty bars as a good breakfast alongside coffee with a modest portion of butter and MCT oil. That said, only if you make the version without sugar – then the whole thing gives you delicious, low-carbohydrate energy you can rely on. This sweet treat also works brilliantly for us as a quick snack to load up before training or sport, or as a dependable source of energy for outdoor activities such as hiking, climbing or mountain biking.
