The 10 most common mistakes when making POWER COFFEE

5 min. reading

Even though I appreciate every creative idea, there are simply some things we have to watch out for if we want to get the desired effect from Power Coffee, the special recipe with butter, coconut and MCT. Read on and avoid grinding it wrongly, choosing the wrong fats and other common mistakes in preparation.

The most common mistakes, or why it does not taste good and does not work for you

The aim of my article is to point out the most common mistakes I come across when the conversation turns to making Power Coffee. Although it is great that we keep experimenting and looking for clever tricks, some things simply do not go together. Which ones?

  1. We do not add any sugar to the coffee, nor any other sweetener, whether honey, maple syrup or agave. The only one allowed is pure stevia, and even that I would not bother with.
  2. We do not add milk to the coffee, and definitely not soy milk. The only options are coconut milk, real almond milk with no sugar and no other additives, or pure and ideally organic cream.
  3. For the right creamy consistency you need to add an adequate amount of butter (12–20 g) and blend the coffee with a small blender or a hand-held stick blender. Otherwise you will be left with oily eyes on the surface.
  4. If we want to drink the coffee hot, we do not add protein. The only option is to stir in Powerlogy Natural Collagen 300 g, which dissolves in hot drinks as well.
  5. For maximum effect we also leave out cream. Like milk, it binds more antioxidants and contains more milk sugar – lactose – than butter or ghee, which contains none.
  6. The quality of the butter and the coconut oil matters. Do not even think of using margarine or a poor-quality butter with less than 80 % fat. The virginity and quality of the coconut oil matter just as much. For the desired effect of curbing hunger and supporting fat metabolism, we ideally use MCT oil. More about the difference from coconut oil here.
  7. We do not put lard or crackling into coffee. Even if you love traditional pork specialities and from a health point of view it would not be that much of a problem, I cannot guarantee the taste or smooth digestion. This fat has somewhat more complicated bonds and you also miss out on the properties of coconut oil that have been studied against bacteria and viruses.
  8. We do not pour any other oils into the coffee, however healthy they may be! Watch out for any vegetable oils containing omega-6 fatty acids. The same goes for healthy things such as linseed, avocado or pumpkin oil, which oxidise quickly when heated and so would not be beneficial for the body.
  9. With fatty coffee we eat nothing other than almonds, macadamia nuts and dark chocolate. Peanuts have a lot of omega-6 fatty acids, and cashews too could weigh on you a little more. If you do have chocolate, then only dark chocolate with at least 85 % quality cacao content (ideally high quality, whether organic or bean to bar).
  10. We must not scorch the coffee or extract it for more than 3.5 minutes.

Correct preparation matters for a healthy, energising coffee too. You can happily brew it as a pour-over, just do not scorch it with boiling water and do not extract it for longer than 3.5 minutes, which is the classic problem of brewed “Turkish” coffee. A “large espresso” is also a mistake in this respect, because you get unsuitable tannins and too much caffeine into the coffee.

What should your coffee actually look like?

Since we often mention fats here, I have to stress that a great deal depends on choosing the right one. From this point of view you need to realise that not all butter is the same, and neither is all ghee. Ideally you get organic butter, or yellow, unpasteurised butter from a cow that the farmer let graze on grass. A good and reliable alternative is therefore ghee. You will find more detailed information about the quality and advantages of ghee in this article of mine.

At the same time, repetition is the mother of wisdom, so let us remind ourselves once more of the importance of adequate and above all fresh grinding of the coffee and of careful preparation. Fresh grinding is no rocket science. More details in the video, where in my usual style I explain all the details fairly slowly.

Why is POWER COFFEE with butter and MCT a useful breakfast solution?

Did you know that for most people one of the main subconscious worries is the fear of a lack of food, and therefore of being hungry? That is why we need to settle exactly this question first and give the brain nutrients in such a way that it does not even occur to you to reach for something sweet. Then you will be perfectly able to notice real hunger. The brain works quite well on healthy fats, and when you manage to activate a partial KETO zone in this way, many people find that ravenous hunger and unmanageable cravings for fast food or sweets settle down. At the same time you contribute to training your fat metabolism and gradually improve your metabolic flexibility, which leads to high energy every day. Those of us who have tested these principles first hand already know that it really is more effective to put a tablespoon of butter and a tablespoon of MCT oil into your morning coffee than classic milk or even sugar. This is how you can apply partial fasting without stress, which is especially advantageous for women. It does not have to be strict every day!!! You will feel the benefits even by applying a minimal dose of coffee morning fasting twice a week.
Please do not hesitate to write your experiences, mistakes, doubts or new findings about how you started drinking coffee with butter and MCT in the comments.
