The timeless combination of poppy seeds and lemon, with our turmeric chocolate added, will please many a lover of sweet things, and its clean, simple ingredient list is a nice surprise as well.
Its yellow colour, with the crunchy poppy seeds and the tartness of lemon, makes it a juicy dessert that also works as a tasty breakfast or an afternoon snack with a coffee or tea. Take a bite of this little cake, which contains no wheat flour and no added sugar. We finished the recipe with a delicious topping made from our turmeric chocolate, with a generous helping of cashew nuts and warming cinnamon.
Method:
- Whisk the eggs until frothy.
- Add the yoghurt, Powerlogy MCT oil, the lemon zest and juice and stir.
- Then carefully fold our cashew cream and the turmeric into the mixture.
- Add the dry ingredients – almond flour and baking powder.
- Stir, then sprinkle in the whole poppy seeds.
- Pour into a 15 cm x 15 cm tin lined with baking paper and bake in a preheated oven for roughly 35 minutes at 180 °C.
- Meanwhile make the topping: break up the turmeric chocolate and pour the warmed cream / plant milk over it.
- Leave the cake to cool, then pour the topping over it.
